Call for films 2026
CALL FOR ENTRIES – DOCUMENTARY FILMS
19th edition of the FAITO DOC FESTIVAL 2026 – Theme: COMMUNITY
The 19th edition of the Faito Doc Festival opens submissions for the International Feature Documentary Competition, the International Short Documentary Competition, and the International Student Short Documentary Competition (for film schools).
The call is open to auteur, experimental, or animated documentaries, with no length restrictions: feature-length films, short films, and ultra-shorts.
This edition is dedicated to the theme: Community.
What is a community?
It is a group of people who share a territory, a language, an experience, a memory. It is an extended family, a village that resists, an invisible network connecting distant worlds.
A community can be born from need, hospitality, mutual care; it can be fragile or powerful, inclusive or exclusive, ready to close in or open up to the new.
Through the gaze of filmmakers, the festival wishes to explore how communities are built, transformed, endure, break apart, and regenerate.
How are communities told today, in the age of globalization and individualism?
What does it mean to “be together,” to “build community” in a constantly changing society, where relationships are redefined and ties are recreated?
The word “community” is not only about coexistence: it also means relationship, solidarity, creative conflict. It is the space where sharing is born, where responsibility is exercised, where the individual meets the other and finds a collective or spiritual meaning.
We invite filmmakers to submit their works to the 19th edition of the Faito Doc Festival, bringing stories that can portray communities — small or large, visible or invisible, traditional or experimental.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection committee will prioritize:
– Point of view: the director’s original and personal vision of reality;
– Empathy: the director’s ability to listen to and accompany the characters, and to convey the filmed places;
– Cinematic language: storytelling that goes beyond simple reportage, with creative visual and sound editing, with rhythm and poetry;
– Attention to the theme: the ability to interpret and narrate the theme “Community” from philosophical, social, political, spiritual, or artistic perspectives;
– Reflection on reality: films that offer new visions of the world, stimulate critical thinking and sharing, attentive to social and environmental issues, to memory and to the future.
